Therefore, thinking about the welfare of our patients and the general public, we opened our Advanced Echocardiography Unit.

Our Advanced Echocardiography Unit has a medical team trained abroad in cardiac imaging techniques, acquiring experience in new diagnostic methods for complex cardiovascular pathologies. The specialists are part of the “heart team” of Clinica Ricardo Palma, a select group of professionals responsible for the first implants of the MitraClip device in Peru, for the treatment of severe mitral insufficiency in patients with high surgical risk, considered inoperable.

Doctors Óscar García and Edgar Quispe, coordinators and founders of the Advanced Echocardiography Unit, point out that thanks to their first-class equipment and state-of-the-art technology, they can achieve greater diagnostic precision in different cardiac pathologies, facilitating individualized management and better decision making by the treating physician, since they have more detailed information.

At the Advanced Echocardiography Unit, we have state-of-the-art technology that allows us to detect, monitor and stratify cardiovascular complications derived from oncological therapies, which provides timely and accurate diagnostic support for the specialties involved in the care of oncological patients, explains Dr. Quispe.

We have the EPIQ CVx Echocardiograph in its latest version 10.0.

This echocardiograph has all the programs activated and a workstation installed in the unit, being a premium ultrasound system for cardiology worldwide. With this equipment, transthoracic echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart through the thorax) and transesophageal echocardiography (procedure in which a probe is introduced through the esophagus to better visualize the heart) associated with new 3D (three-dimensional) techniques are performed, use of myocardial strain (detailed analysis of myocardial fiber), stress echocardiograms (pharmacological, for evaluation of coronary artery disease, valvular disease and hypertrophic cardiomyopathies), among other highly complex tests.

The advanced technology of the echocardiograph is used to support structural interventional cardiology procedures (such as Mitraclip, TAVI, ASD and PFO closure) and high complexity surgeries, offering safer, more efficient and faster procedures.
