What is the main objective of interventional cardiology procedures? 

To restore blood flow in clogged coronary arteries, which are the cause of heart attacks.

Our interventional cardiologists perform:

• Coronary artery dilatations and stent implantation. Stents are small endoprostheses that allow the artery to remain open. With these procedures, coronary artery pathologies are solved, which previously required open chest operations, such as:

– Lesions of the left coronary artery.

– Complex lesions due to calcifications or bifurcations.

– Multiple lesions in the same coronary vessel.

• Dilatations of obstructions in coronary aorto bypasses. Also called aortocoronary bypass dilations, which are the arteries placed surgically. Its purpose is to improve coronary flow.

We have diagnostic and therapeutic aid devices:

• IVUS intravascular ultrasound. Ultrasound of the internal part of the coronary arteries that optimizes the results of angioplasty and implantation of stents.
• Rotablator. Device that allows the removal of calcifications within the coronary arteries.
• IFR. Procedure within the coronary arteries to assess the true severity of intermediate coronary lesions, as well as the need to indicate or not to place stents.
