“Excess transpiration can cause a baby’s skin rash. This is prevented and treated by lowering body temperature: wearing light clothing, frequent bathing, and drinking plenty of fluids. Cold water compresses can also be applied to the affected areas (preferably chamomile or plantain water). If the rash does not subside, you should see a specialist ”, says Dr. Yaril Moreyra, a dermatologist at our clinic.
From what age should a baby wear sunscreen?
It is recommended that babies under 6 months do not use sunscreen, so avoid exposing them to direct sunlight. After 6 months, it is only advisable to put a protector with physical filters (zinc oxide or titanium dioxide).
Can a child use an adult’s sunscreen?
Children under 5 years of age should use pediatric sunscreens, preferably containing only physical filters, as chemical filters can cause allergic skin reactions and are absorbed systemically. Older children can use adult sunscreen.
From what age can we take a baby to the pool or to the sea and what should we use to avoid sunburn?
From the first year of life, but not for long periods, and always wearing full-body swimwear with UV protection, a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
