Clinica Ricardo Palma managed to obtain certification as a center trained to receive patients with cerebrovascular disease (ischemic and hemorrhagic), “Essential Stroke Center” granted by the World Stroke Organization (WSO), the highest body in the world that regulates and supervises the correct diagnostic approach and therapeutic treatment of patients suffering from CVA (Cerebral Vascular Accident, Ictus, Stroke or Cerebral Effusion), thus becoming the only certified private institution in the country, with the same quality standards as other institutions in Latin America, North America and Europe.
“The Neurology Service of Clinica Ricardo Palma is proud of this certification, as we are a highly trained team in the management of cerebral vascular pathologies. Although it is true that we also handle other types of diseases, we have a special commitment to the acute treatment of Cerebral Vascular Accidents (CVA), both ischemic and hemorrhagic. With this certification, our patients can be sure that they will be treated by a highly qualified multidisciplinary team that guarantees the comprehensive treatment of this pathology”, said Dr. Manuel Moquillaza, Interventional Neurologist and Coordinator of the Neurology Service at Clinica Ricardo Palma.
This distinction is the result of a rigorous evaluation of care standards for patients such as: primary care in emergency, pre-hospital, in the hemodynamic room, shock trauma, intensive care unit (ICU), hospitalization and physical therapy, in addition of the integral evaluation of digital images, all these key factors required from the admission of the patient by the emergency service until the patient is discharged.
“This new recognition demonstrated the commitment of Clinica Ricardo Palma towards compliance with the highest standards aimed at quality and safety for our patients. Our Neurology Service provides fast and timely care 24 hours a day, performing minimally invasive diagnoses to address cerebral vascular accidents (CVA) correctly, effectively and quickly. These aspects allow us to be a reference in providing immediate assistance in this pathology, contributing to the prevention and reduction of the mortality rate in these cases. All this, thanks to the support of the necessary medical technology and a great team of professionals at the service of our patients, for whom we work every day with commitment and dedication”, highlights Dr. Antonio Feria Aliaga, General Manager of the Clinica Ricardo Palma.
It should be noted that the certification was received by Dr. Marla Gallo, Interventional Neurologist and coordinator of the CVA Unit of Clinica Ricardo Palma, within the framework of the Global Stroke Alliance 2022, which was held in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, between August 10th and 13th. Likewise, Dr. Moquillaza had an outstanding participation representing Peru as a speaker at this event, with the theme: Endovascular management of strokes associated with intracranial atherosclerosis. Leading specialists from several countries met at the aforementioned congress which was chaired by Dr. Sheila Martins, president of the World Stroke Organization (WSO) and leader of the Brazilian CVA Network.
