“The diagnosis of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) is not carried out through usual medical examinations, it is carried out by the pediatric neurologist by observing the behavior and development of the child, who from 18 months of age can show suggestive signs or even before. From the age of 2 years, the diagnosis can be made by an experienced professional and considered very reliable. Unfortunately, many children do not receive a final diagnosis until they reach school age or adolescence”, says Dr. Pamela Muñoz, pediatric neurologist at our clinic.
