When a person starts training, it is important to warm up so that the muscles, joints and even the circulatory and cardiovascular systems adapt to the exercise. In this way, the risk of having a complication is greatly reduced. This is key to avoid injuries, says Raúl Gutiérrez, Traumatologist at Clínica Ricardo Palma.
Warm-up should begin in a general way, moving the whole body and finally focusing on the area that will be most used. For example, if you go cycling, your arms will stretch and then your legs. It should not last less than 10 minutes.
For the exercise to be really beneficial for health, it must be done at least 4 times a week, so our body will stay strong and healthy. In case of injury, it is recommended to keep still the affected area and apply ice to deflate, apart from using a not very tight compression bandage.
