More precision and efficiency. Clinica Ricardo Palma acquires Endoscope with Advanced Technology for the diagnosis and treatment of Respiratory Diseases.
Lung and respiratory tract diseases have increased considerably in recent years due to smoking, environmental pollution (particulate matter), poor diet, among other factors. In this context, early diagnosis and accurate treatment are essential to combat these pathologies. To provide the best care to its patients, Clinica Ricardo Palma recently acquired the EVIS X1 Endoscopic System, which revolutionizes the way to identify and treat these conditions.
The equipment, considered the most advanced in its field, is used to perform flexible video bronchoscopies (which allow the study of the interior of the airways), in order to carry out precise detection, diagnosis and treatment with less risk for patients, since it is a minimally invasive procedure. Thanks to its high-end technology, this modern equipment makes it possible to perform deeper scans, observe the anatomy in greater detail, perform complex biopsies and identify areas at high risk of bleeding. In addition, since it has a working channel, it can be used in combination with various devices to perform procedures such as bronchoalveolar lavage, pulmonary cryobiopsies, transbronchial biopsies, foreign body extraction, balloon dilatation, among others.
Dr. Carlos Aliaga, interventional pulmonologist at Clinica Ricardo Palma, points out that with the acquisition of this state-of-the-art endoscope system, patients with respiratory system diseases will have more accurate diagnoses, safe and efficient treatments, with less chance of suffering complications. This is due to the fact that the quality of the images provided by the equipment gives greater security and confidence to the treating physician when carrying out the intervention.
“Video bronchoscopy takes less than one hour and does not require hospitalization; however, the patient must first undergo a pre-surgical study,” the specialist explains. He also stresses that the candidates for this test are all those who suffer lesions at the level of the pulmonary parenchyma and endobronchial lesions that require video exploration.
This procedure is recommended for patients with chronic pneumonias that do not respond to treatment; patients with the presence of nodules or masses in the lungs, the possibility of tuberculosis infection and various infections that cannot be obtained by sputum study. It is also indicated for those who present atelectasis (collapse of the alveoli); tracheal stenosis, for those who present hemoptysis (coughing up blood), among other cases.
