This a crucial stage in a teenager life. It is not only the continuation of their academic formation, but also, helps them to grow and to stablish strategies to reach their goals, as indicated by the psychologist Mary Castro at Clinica Ricardo Palma. Here lies the importance to help them avoid some frequent mistakes made by students of college pre-school. For example, missing classes, memorizing the class but not understanding, being influenced by their badly behaved classmates, last minute studying, not finding their own study methodology, among others.
Follow these tips
For that, the psychologist Castro mentions there are 5 keys to take the most advantage of the college pre-school. First of all, having a study schedule. This is very important for the student. Also, not memorize the class. Classes have to be analyzed and understood. Students must have a proper place to study; sleep well, and follow a balanced diet. And last, but not least, ask every time they don’t understand something. As simple as that.
Some advice to follow during class
A great number of teenagers feel embarrassed to ask the teacher when they don’t understand the class. The ideal is to face their fears and ask if they have any doubts. However, if it is too hard for them, the psychologist Mary Castro advises to talk to the teacher during break, or get close to the group that always asks question in the classroom. There are even some colleges that offer some extra workshops. It is good for the teenagers to be part of that so they can develop other skills, learn to relax and to interact with other students. Also, to keep concentration during class the specialist recommends to go to class with all the materials complete, do not put any unnecessary objects in the desk and make visual contact with the teacher.
Another alternative to study and learn
If you don’t like the college pre-school, study groups are also an option to prepare for university. Do you know why? Because it is a more personalized work; students are in direct contact with the teacher and they are more specialized, according to the student areas of interest or the difficulties. Moreover, because it is smaller, the student can feel more comfortable. Many times it can be per hours, students don’t have to be there for 6 or 7 hours studying because there is the possibility to study in the schedule coordinated by everyone. There no excuses here. Let’s study!
